U16 Victory Shield 2018 kicks off this Monday Nov 12th at St Brendan’s Park FC

St Brendan’s Park FC is delighted and honoured to be chosen as a host venue for this year’s prestigious Victory Shield which features the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales under 16 squads.

The tournament starts on Monday at Christy Leahy Park at 1pm when Scotland and Wales kick off this week long festival of soccer in Tralee.  Rep of Ireland face Northern Ireland at 6pm on Monday at Mounthawk Park KDL.

Please come out during the week to support these young players who will proudly represent their countries in this long running competition which has a great history.

Well done to John O’Regan, Sean O’Keeffe and all at the KDL as well as the FAI for bringing this tournament to Tralee. Tralee Dynamos will also host a match on Friday between Rep of Ireland and Scotland which is a great honour for our neighbouring club.

Well done to all at our club who have contributed greatly to organizing everything for the big match on Monday. The club grounds and club rooms have undergone refurbishment works in recent weeks thanks to our dedicated club members, volunteers and CE scheme workers.

The main playing pitch is in a fantastic condition for the tournament opening  match on Monday, special thanks to KDL for their work and investment on our pitch.

Special mention to Pa Kerins and Preston McEvoy who have put in a huge effort to improve our club grounds. They are just two of a dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly for the good of our soccer club.

Enjoy the Victory Shield and don’t miss out on a wonderful opportunity to see top class young soccer players playing in Tralee.

St Brendan’s Park F. C Marks Football Against Racism Week

St Brendan’s Park F. C today 14/10/2017 held an Academy Training Session to mark Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) Week.

During today’s event, our Academy players participated in a friendly training match. The players lined up in ‘Champions League style and shook hands with players from the opposing team.  As they passed, they exchanged wristbands from Show Racism the Red Card (SRTRC).  In our club, there is no place for racism’.

St Brendan’s Park F. C is among over 100 clubs, group, organisations – including schools, football clubs and community organisations – from throughout Ireland who are taking part in FARE Week 2017.  The week is an initiative of the FARE network www.farenet.org  supported by UEFA across Europe and is supported in Ireland by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). The initiative runs from 5th to 19th October, and will see thousands of events taking place across Europe to highlight anti-racism messages and celebrate diversity. FARE Week 2017.

Speaking at the FARE event in at Christy Leahy Park, Director of Coaching Padraig McCannon said: “football can be powerful in uniting people and breaking down barriers.  Now that Ireland is a multicultural society, we need to encourage children and adults to grow their understanding of the many new communities now represented amongst our neighbours, schools and workmates.”

According to Padraig, “FARE Week is a great opportunity to use the power of football to bring people together, make a stand against discrimination and promote respect for diversity in football and in society. The events that are taking place during FARE Week serve not only to promote the anti-racism message, but also promote integration.

Over the last 11 years, a huge number of clubs; schools, youth groups and others have taken time to support FARE Week in Ireland by organising a wide range of activities, including friendly matches, football blitz events and competitions. In 2017, we look forward to the ongoing support of the football and wider community to mark FARE fortnight.  The FAI and Show Racism the Red Card would like to congratulate St Brendan’s Park F. C for becoming involved in FARE Week 2017.”
