FAI Youth Cup 3rd Round

Listowel Celtic 2 v 3 St. Brendan’s Park FC
Our youth team advanced to the fourth round of the cup after coming from behind twice to clinch a narrow win.
Listowel drew first blood against the run of play as we had the lions share of possession but twenty two minutes in Listowel broke with pace on the counter attack and took a shock lead .We were level six minutes later when Adam Ward split Celtics defense and Conor O’Brien shot low under the advancing keeper. Jordan Barry and Aaron Ward should have put their team ahead before the break but fluffed their lines. We dominated the second half and should have taken the lead with only a minute gone in second period when Jordan Barry broke thru but missed with only the keeper to beat. Listowel again grabbed a shock lead in the sixty fifth minute with a great strike from thirty yards right in the top angle of the goals.Park stayed patient with JR Tshikato and James Sheehan creating chances for us and the equaliser came from a corner with JR finding Shane Jordan at the front post and he rifled his shot into roof of the Listowel net,we had Listowel pinned back in their final third and in the eighty fourth minute Conor O’Brien beat the offside trap and was taken down by the Listowel keeper, the ref pointed to the penalty spot,Parks JR Tshikato stepped forward and dispatched the spot kick into the top corner and send his team into the fourth round.
Best for Park ; James Sheehan – JR Tshikato – Shane Jordan – Andrew Breen
Man of Match ; Conor O’Brien

Fai Youth Cuo 2nd Round

Killarney Celtic 1 v 2 Park FC

This cup encounter was Parks toughest test of the season so far with both sides leaving it all on the pitch that saw Park advance to the third round with another away fixture v Listowel Celtic.
Park management need and must solve their slow starts to games and conceding early goals as they found themselves trailing after only eight minutes .The game was played at a high intensity with Park more creative but guilty of not punishing Celtic with Jordan Barry ,Conor O’Brien and Aaron Ward failing to convert some golden chances.
It was Parks captain Adam Ward in the thirty fifth minute that burst into the Celtic area and was tripped ,ref pointed to the penalty spot and it was Adam that converted the spot kick sending the Killarney keeper the wrong way , all level at the break.
Killarney started the opening ten minutes of the second half strongly pushing the Park back and winning four corners in a row but Parks defense stood strong and when you have Conor Hayes the best youth keeper in the county between the posts putting in a man of the match performance this instills confidence in his team.
Parks midfield duo Adam Ward and James Sheehan started to get a hold on midfield and Park took the lead in seventy fifth minute when David Oba down the right side of midfield found Parks striker Conor O’Brien with a defense splitting pass clinically finishing thru the legs of the advancing keeper.
The final ten minutes saw Park defend stalwartly from a Celtic side pressing for an equalizer and again it was Parks custodian Conor Hayes making a top class save at full stretch tipping the ball around the post for a corner in added time to see Park thru to the third round.

Man of Match ; Conor Hayes

Park controlled the game but were guilty of been wasteful in front of goal and were made to pay when Castleisland were awarded a dubious penalty in the forty fourth minute which they converted to take a shock lead into the break.
Park management made a couple of positional changes for the second half and moving James Sheehan from right back to midfield proved to be the key as Park pressed Castleisland and totally dominated the second half , netting five goals with captain Adam Ward hitting a brace and one apiece coming from Aaron Ward , JR Tshikato and Jordan Barry.

Park FC 2 : 1 Castleisland

We were made to work hard to claim all three points in their second league outing.
Castleisland took an early lead on twelve minutes with a snap shot from the edge of the area beating our keeper Jack Rogers low to his left hand post.
We were closed down quickly every time they got on the ball and were forced into long range efforts from Adam Ward and Leon Shalemba by a resilient Castleisland defense and went into the break with a deserved lead.
Our management team made some positional changes for the second half and brought in Aaron Ward on the right side these changes and higher tempo from our players saw them dominate the game.  The break thru came twenty minutes into the half with Jordan Barry breaking down the left and cutting the ball back to Conor O’Brien and he guided the ball low under the advancing keeper.
We were now totally dominant and wave after wave of attack it was Jordan Barry again gave us the lead scoring at the back post with a bullett of a header in the seventy fifth minute. We shut up shop for the final ten minutes and overall deserved the win,
Best for Park ;Jack Donahue – Jordan Barry – Adam Ward – Aaron Ward – Leon Shalemba
