This was the first competitive game at schoolboy level for this talented group of players and it was a windy morning that greeted them for this match against our very near neighbours. Excitement was high as the players arrived. After a couple of months of trials and training they were ready to play.

The match started at a good pace with Park in control of the football all over the pitch. All the lads were playing lovely controlled football while passing it from the back through midfield to the striker with great skill. During the opening few minutes we had a couple of shots on goal which were very well saved by the Dynamos ‘keeper who made numerous excellent saves during the game. The first goal of the game came from a great team move involving Danny and Josh and was finished very well by Cianan. The Park were really upping the tempo at this stage and a second goal was not long coming when Colin finished to the corner giving the ‘keeper no chance. It looked like the Park would score some more goals but Dynamos started to get a foot on the ball and started to make our defenders Darragh, Edward, Jack and Sean busier than they had been. Some of the talent on the line were brought on to help out with Cillian, Conor, Olaf and Adam coming on and introducing lots of energy and endeavour to the team in the run up to half time. It took some excellent defending from the team and great goalkeeping from Liam to keep them at bay up until half time. HT 2-0 to Park.

We are lucky that we have two really good goalkeepers and Cian replaced Liam for the second half, while Caden came in at midfield, David came in to the defence and Fionan up front. The Dynamos started the second half on the front foot. Cian and his defenders did really well to keep them out but eventually the goal came. The reaction from the Park lads was excellent and they battled really hard to get back the goal but got caught on the break and Dynamos scored to make it 2-2 with about 15 minutes to go. With players getting tired the bench was used to great effect. Ben having a couple of minutes earlier almost scored a piledriver to the top corner was on hand to score the all important third goal after a goalmouth scramble. Park were back in control and passing the ball with confidence again. The scoring though wasn’t finished yet though and a lovely strike from Josh nestled in the bottom corner to ensure this team victory in their first outing. FT 4-2 to Park

There is no doubt that with continued commitment to training and always striving to improve there will be many more days like this. While always nice to win the most important aspect of today was the quality of the performance from Park and the fact that they were all playing for each other which is what being a team is about. Well done boys.
