Park U-14As played Listowel Celtic today on the all weather pitch in Tralee IT.  It was a game neither team could afford to lose yet both teams could have easily done so. Listowel were the quickest out of the blocks and courtesy of a number of mistakes from the Park defence and midfield, Celtic lead 4-0 at half time. Dylan Casey was probably the Parks best performer in a half this team will not want to repeat.

Unfortunately Donagh McMahon suffered an injury after 5 mins causing a reshuffle in midfield. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious and Donagh will be back in training shortly. We wish him well. Park made three substitutions at halftime and a couple of positional changes which turned the game on its head. Michael Slattery got one goal back for Park early in the second half with a shot from 20 yards and when Robin McCarthy got the second 10 minutes later it was game on. Sean Carmody headed Park’s third goal after 20 minutes and at this stage a win for the Tralee boys looked a real possibility. Robin McCarthy, who was proving a real handful for Celtic, then had what looked like a legitimate goal ruled out for offside and had a stonewall penalty claim denied. With time running out Park won a corner. Michael O’Gara delivered a peach of a ball into the Listowel area and Sean Carmody stuck his head in front of a Listowel boot to earn a deserved draw for the Park boys. An exciting end to a game both teams will reflect on with both regrets and relief.
