The 1st Half the Park lads started brightly against a physically strong Camp side and they got into a great passing rythm, playing well out from defence through Eoghan in goal, Sean and Alan in the centre, with Dave on the right and Cian on the left.
The midfield and forward line were linking up well creating some good chances through Ed, Tom, Kiwi and Gearoid with the away side defending in numbers. The Camp lads slowly came into the game with the Park losing their domination and with 15mins gone the dreaded goal against the run of play came from camp’s main striker Jimmy.
1-0 down and the Park made a substitiution with Deano coming on up front. The game was very even at this stage with the Park slowly starting to get back into the game creating a few good half chance but proving too slow to pull the trigger in front of goal.
5mins to half time and the crucial break through came with a fine pass from Dylan out of the centre to Deano who had no problem pulling the trigger and smashed the ball over the defence into the top corner, 1-1 and it was game on.
The park management made a few changes to try and get back on top in the game, that coupled with the wind at their backs The park lads spirits seemed to be lifted and they started to pass and move the ball with confidence. The defence were solid and the midfield players of Shane Kiwi and Gearoid stated to run at the camp defence with Dylan, Minors and Deano creating good movement up front.
It was only a matter of time before another goal would come and it fell to Deano 5 mins in with a great goal poacher’s goal after a scramble in front of the box. The Park’s tails were up and pushed forward for a third but it did’nt come until the 26th minute with a finE ball over the top by Fitzy to Gearoid who rounded the keeper and slotted into an empty net to make it 3-1.
The Park lads were winning in all quarters of the pitch and had alot of chances but failed to punish their opponents. Harry came on from the bench and made an immediate impression scoring a fine striker from outside the box from a poor kick out. 4- 1 and the with the park dominating it was inevitable that a fifth was coming and with 4 mins left on the clock, it was fitting that Deano would hit the hatrick from a penetrating corner kick by Fitzy which was missed by everyone except Deano who latched on to it, to toe poke past the keeper. Camp finished with a goal from a defensive error with the final scoreline 5-2 to the Park.
A good second half performance by the lads but a lot of shots off target. A lot of shooting practice in training needed!!
