Our Senior team took part in two preseason games to date in our run up to the new league season due to start early September.

We hosted both Mitchel’s Avenue and Ballyheigue in Christy Leahy Park.

In our first game we defeated Mitchel’s Avenue 2 -1 with goals from Mikey Burke and Poga McCannon. This was a good run out for us against a much more experienced Mitchel’s team who perhaps ran out of steam owing to their involvement in league last season. With that said our players worked extremely hard over the 90 minutes and played great football with the ball moving all the time.

John Dineen played with us for this game before departing to the US where he takes up a full time coaching role. All involved in the Senior set up and I’m sure the club wish John all the best in his new adventure. Without question you will be a big assist to your new employer and those you coach. All the best John.

Game two we played a very fit and physical side as Ballyheigue made us work very hard for our 2-1 win. Adam Ward scored what was an excellent goal after a pinpoint Leon McEvoy through ball. Mikey again hit the net this time a goal of real striker quality. Alfie Christie who has started this year off to the highest standards both in training and games set Mikey on the move. As with all top strikers Mikey created enough space in between four defenders and found the bottom left corner from 35 yards.

As stated this was a hard physical game with our guests at times playing the better football. However a great sign of a team is being able to soak in pressure and come out on top.

Best for us in this one were both Adam and Aaron Ward – Leon McEvoy – Alfie Christie – Conor O Brien – Conor Hayes along with Leon Shalemba and Shane Jordan at the centre of defence.

Thanks to both Mitchel’s Avenue and Ballyheigue for the games and we wish ye the best for the new season.

This weekend we play two more games this time in the all-weather at KDL and again up against two very experienced sides in Tralee Celtic and Windmill. Past Park FC manager John Quirke takes up the Senior manager role with Tralee Celtic this year. We wish John good luck with the Premier challenge.
