Our U12 B’s finished their season with an away local derby win over our neighbours Kingdom Boys on Thursday evening.

We were at full strength and 5 mins in it showed as the free scoring Robin McCarthy finished a lovely passing move to the back of the net. The Kingdom Boys pushed forward for an equailiser but got caught on the break by Robin again, who finished cooly for his second goal of the day.

John Ward handled everything the Boys threw at him, making a fanstastic save at his near post to deny their front man.

Following a goal mouth scramble the ball broke to David Couchman on the edge of the box and he nearly broke the net with a first time shot straight out of the Premiership. 3-0 at halftime.

The management team of Mathew ‘Mourihno’ Cheevers and Jason ‘Pepe’ Conway made some changes putting the hard working Shane McCarthy on for the injured Jake Deering, who had run his socks-off and midfield enforcer Dylan O Sullivan coming in for Eddie Galvin, whose passing had led to the 3 goal lead.

Dean Scanlon was next on the score sheet after a lovely passing move between Shane, Robin and Conor O Brien. On came Adam Ward for David Couchman and he burned-up the left wing time after time putting quailty ball into the box for the forwards to work with. All the hard running payed off when Adam Ward shot high into the top corner of the net for the 5th goal.

Tadgh Broderick was brought in to shore up the midfield and he settled right into his job. At the other end Aaron Dewey, Garry Clifford, Ozaz and Mathew Lukco passed the ball out of defence to keep the Kingdom Boys pinned back in their own half. Another Adam run and cross led to another goal after a first time shot by Deano in the bottom corner.

Andrew Breen came in for Garry and played some lovely passes into midfield. With time almost up Robin scored his third of the game after the Boys keeper saved first from Deano. Adam then completed the scoring.

A great team performance all round with some lovely passing and well done to Kingdom Boys keeper for making some very good saves to kept the score to just seven.

Well done to the whole squad of 23 players and to the Management team of Mathew and Jason. The team played 9, winning 6 and losing 3, (2 of those to A teams) scoring 38 goals along the way with Robin, Dean and David netting the majority. We got to the Quaterfinals of the Kerry Cup, losing out to our A’s and finished 4th in the Division, a good performance by any standard.

Some of the B’s will be pushing for places in the A team next season, such has been the improvement over the year. We have an end of season bash in the AquaDome this Saturday at 1 thanks to Kieran. Enjoy the break and keep an eye out for texts re training for next season.

The future is bright, the future is PARK.
