It was going to be a tough assignment for the Park Lads to get something from
this game away to Listowel, who lead this division and they certainly proved why they are on top. 4-1 was no disgrace though as the lads battled hard and could have got a couple more goals to make it a tighter game.

1st Half

The Park had a rocky start and were unfortunately 2 goals down within 15 minutes of play. Only for the good defensive skills of Michael in the right back position and the goal-line clearance from the centre back Con the score could have been a lot worse. With the introduction of Dwain into centre back and the switching of Ruairi to the right-wing the boys started to play well. With some nice work up the wing from Sean and Ian they pressed on hard to try to get a goal to lift the spirits of the team. Ed hit the cross-bar but we didn’t follow through and a good chance went a begging. With good one two play from our central midfield pairing of Evan and Jacob we were unlucky not to score just before halftime. The park lads were on top in the second period of the 1st half creating a few good chances with the Half time break coming too soon for us.

2nd half

The second half started like the first with the Park trying their hardest to get the ball forward but Celtic scored on the counter to make it 3-0. Fair play to the Park the heads did not go down and the boys came back with Mark scoring from a lovely passing movement 3-1 down.it was still all to play for but any chance of major come back was short-lived with Celtic scoring another goal to make the final score 4-1.

Well done to the lads for battling hard and “never say die” attitude against a strong Listowel side.
