On a cold frosty morning Camp started off the game very strongly and when a dubious penalty was awarded for a hand ball after about 10 minutes they took the opportunity to put themselves 1-0 in front.

Shortly afterwards they mounted another attack  and a clearance by Raul for the Park unfortunately came off the wrong side of his boot and ended up in the back of the net.

Credit to the Park lads who tightened up their defense and after some promising attacking play were unlucky when Dylan hit the crossbar from a free kick.

Straight afterwards Park mounted another attack and a pass from Raul set Jake Deering racing down the wing. Jake slipped in behind the Camp defender and put the ball in the back of the net to make it 2-1. Game on but Camp came back strong and scored another quick goal to make it 3-1.

Our boys kept their heads up and a free kick from Dylan went to Evan Maher who hit the ball forward neatly to Sean O’ Driscoll. Sean made no mistake as he found the back of the net to again get us to within a goal of Camp leaving it 3-2  at half time.

In the second half Camp started off strongly again and were awarded another penalty. We certainly were not getting the rub of the green in the penalty area. We were now 4-2 down but again Park showed great spirit.

Dylan took a great free kick and the ball landed in the back of the net but as our players turned to celebrate the referee deemed one of the Park players to be offside and the goal was disallowed.

After this disappointment, Camp mounted another counter attack and from a ball crossed in they headed the ball into the back of the net to make it 5-2 and despite good play from our lads, there were no more goals before the end.

A hard fought game throughout and Park played very well against a stronger physical Camp side who have benefited from Dingle’s demise. They can be proud of their performance as they have improved 100%  from their pre-season friendly against Camp. The coaches Mathew, Dave and Jim were pleased with this performance and  it shows how much the team have improved from the start of the season and it won’t be long before we get a winning result.
