League: Park 5-3 Castleisland
This was Park’s toughest test so far in the league from a well coached Castleisland side. The wind played a major part in the game with Island choosing to play with the wind to their back.
Park had the majority of possession in first half keeping the ball on the deck and using their wide men Adam O’Rourke and George Carneige to the maximum and both were a constant threat.
Castleisland were relying on the long ball and it paid dividends on the half hour mark when Colm Murphy struck from twenty yards to give Island the lead.
Park responded by creating three great chances before the break with the post denying them on two occasions.
Thirty seconds into the second half and Park were level when Fionn Coakley struck a thirty five yard free kick to the back of the net.
Park went ahead five minutes later when Jesse O’Sullivan struck from close range.
Park let Island back into it when we conceded a free twenty five yards from goal and paid the penalty as Colm Murphy levelled for Castleisland.
With twenty minutes remaining Parks in form winger George Carneige struck a twenty yard volley giving Park back the lead but Castleisland to their credit kept pushing forward and were level from a well placed header giving Parks keeper no chance.
With five minutes remaining it was 3 goals apiece it looked like both teams would share the spoils but again it was Park’s centre half Fionn Coakley, from sixty yards, catching a sweet half volley that wind assisted found the back of the net with Island’s keeper caught too far off his line.
Parks other centre half Klaudio Dema finished the scoring when he fired Park’s fifth from a very tight angle.
