Well done to Michael Slattery and Sean Carmody who have just returned from trials with Aberdeen Football Club in Scotland.
Michael and Sean had two tough training sessions on Wednesday 14th and played a trial game on Thursday morning. They acquitted themselves very well on both days and the coaching staff at Aberdeen were very complimentary regarding their technical ability, their fitness levels and their willingness to work hard.
It was a first trial for both lads at this level and no doubt it won’t be their last as they proved they were well capable of mixing with Scotland U-15s, U-17s and Aberdeen’s U-20s.
They attended the trial along with their teammates from the Kerry Schoolboys League Galway Cup team and Tralee Dynamos players, Darragh Louth, Dillon Robinson and Kevin Williams who also showed off their considerable skills and the talent available in Kerry. Hopefully we’ll see more recognition for these lads in the coming months.
Aberdeen treated the boys very well and presented the club with a pennant signed by the first team. Pictured in the photo below with Pat Carmody are Jim Fraser, Head of Recruitment and Neil Simpson, Head Coach of Aberdeen Academy. Neil was on the Aberdeen team who beat Real Madrid to win the European Cup Winners Cup in 1983 and the European Super Cup in 1984. They were managed by some guy called Alex Ferguson.
Back to Park business now for Sean and Michael with a big u-16 National Cup game at home tomorrow Saturday 17th vs Pike Rovers at 2pm.
