This weekend, the Park U8 travelled to Listowel Celtic for some friendly matches.  In all four games were played.  Thankfully the rain stayed away though it was threatening to pour at the very start.

Venis Jahiri was very impressive, showing great touches, control and awareness of his team-mates.  Another excellent performance was by Alex McGrath who demonstrated great effort and aptitude during the games.  Well done to both who were the Man of the Match for the Park Teams.

Other notable performers were Darragh Cunnane, Michael Tansley, Brian O’Donnell.  Kyle Clifford, Conor Cronin, Darren O’Brien, Donal O’Connell, James Williams, Kyle Clifford, Odhran Ferris, Cian O’Gara, Oisin McGibney all put in plenty of effort, demonstrating good play many times.

A special note for Sean Twomey who had bronchitis all week.  He turned up today and played a stormer in goals.  Also, he went outfield for a short spell where his true worth as an outfield player was clearly demonstrated during this short period of outfield play.

Overall everyone enjoyed the games and it was a good learning experience for both coaches and team alike.  There were some areas where we were very good but also some areas that we will need to work on in the forthcoming training sessions.  The first game of the year was very beneficial to all involved.

We would like to thank Listowel Celtic for the invite, the use of their facilities, and the drinks and crisps that they kindly provided after the games.  The latter went down a storm.

We would also like the parents and family members who brought the Park Team to Listowel.   They are the unspoken heroes of any club.
