The U9’s travelled to Killarney Celtic on Saturday for a few challenge matches against the locals. We had a large turn-out with almost 40 young lads playing their hearts out. Pat, Mark and Dave took a team each with each team playing two different Celtic teams meaning everyone had two fun but highly competitive games.
Donnacha Sayers, Sean Hill and Ben Hanafin were rock solid in defence keeping the Killarney boys at bay, while Ben O Brien, Conor Kirby, Lasha Bekauri, Tom Flavin and Liam Carmody competed for every ball like their lives depended on it.
Josh Lynch played in every position on the park making two fantastic saves while in goals, as well as setting up two at the other end in the second half of the same game!!
Top of the assists league goes to the human dynamo Adam Murphy, closely followed by Matthew Higgins, Conor Kearns and Edward Sheehy whose passing just gets better and better.
New signing Maurice O Connell hit the net three times, while Sean O Connor got a hat trick in the second of his games. Also among the goals were Cian Moran, Fionan Egan, Cianan Cooney and Cillian Murphy.
On the wings Danny Hennessy, Martin Lukco, Eoghain O Loughlin and Aaron Delahunty tormented the Celtic defence.
Well done to all the boys that travelled and to the Moms and Dads for their support. Thanks as always to Killarney Celtic for their hospitality and sporting behaviour.
The U10s will travel out to Killarney in a few weeks time while their 9s will come in to us so training as usual next Saturday, see u there!
