Christy Leahy a founder/member and president of both St. Brendan’s Park and the Kerry District League was presented with the John Sherlock award at lasts nights FAI Awards in Westmeath . The John Sherlock services to football award recognises the contributions made by volunteers at all levels of football to the continued success and development of the game .

News of the honour broke late last night and has been hailed as a just reward around the county .

Christy has been involved in our club right from the start back in 1971, he has held numerous Kerry posts, and he is always there for anything that the club are doing no matter how big or small it might be. St Brendans Park Fc named our home grounds after him with very good reason. A club is like a family, and Christy is the head of our family.”

Christy has been reporting on Kerry soccer for numerous years now and will have been seen at games all over the county . His weekly column in the Kerry’s Eye newspaper are read by everyone near and far and his knowledge about local and world soccer is second to none .It is with out question that without his dedication to the game Kerry Soccer would not be as popular as it is .

It’s a fully deserved award for all the work Christy has put in over the years and everybody within the club would like to congratulate him on his award .
