Former St Brendan’s Park player Jesse Stafford Lacey will be part of the Republic of Ireland’s U18s Schoolboys squad taking on Scotland in Killarney in April.

Stafford Lacey, who currently plays with Limerick FC’s U19s, is the only Kerry player on the squad for the Centenary Shield series. The Republic of Ireland will also play Wales, Northern Ireland and England in the u18 internationals.

The Ireland-Scotland clash is fixed for April 14th at Killarney Celtic Park,
Kerry soccer is on the crest of a wave following the Cup successes in 2015 and the recent acceptance of the counties u17 team into the SSE League of Ireland. The selection of Killarney Celtic as a venue for the international tie is an indication of the standard of the facility.

The Irish squad is managed by Patrick O’Reilly assisted by William O’Connor. The coach is Oliver Horgan, current manager of Finn Harps.

Fergus McDaid of the FAI Schools organising committee said that they were delighted to be back in Kerry again.
“We know the great facilities at Killarney Celtic which are ideal for a game like this. It’s the third game of the Centenary Shield tournament and could be vital in our bid to hold onto the trophy we won last year.
“We expect another big crowd to support the u18 Boys in Green and also know that the Scots will receive a warm welcome in Killarney”.
