On Saturday last we played a cracking friendly match v St James of Manchester at home in Christy Leahy Park. St James as a club are no strangers to Kerry as they have being coming here a good many years, way back some twenty years ago I had the pleasure to play against them and great credit must go to George Callaghan and all at the Castleisland soccer club for keeping that link going.

We started the game very well and although this was the first real chance for our lads to play on a full size pitch with the big goals, they really looked comfortable on the ball at all times. Our back line played really solid with Craig and James S as full backs and Darragh and Conor M in the centre, as normal Conor H played super in goals, most notable was his distribution of the ball.

From the backs out, the movement and skills shown were top class. Seb and Alfie worked well together as did Jamas R with his long range crossing causing St James lots of trouble.

Up front Padraig, Nathan and Brian were in fine form with  Leon making his first appearance for the team scoring twice.  All in all it was a good game played in good spirit and again gave our boys a taste of the big pitch and goals.

Our goals on the day came from Seb, Padraig, Conor M, and two from Leon. Although all the boys played well the man of the match was Conor M.

We thank St James for the game and George Callaghan for asking the club to host the match.

“WELL DONE BOYS”
