For anyone who watched this game they really got a christmas cracker . This was a game that showed the very best in Kerry soccer .
We started very slowly and took a while to get going . before we knew it we were 2-0 behind after half an hour . We really should have pulled a goal back before the break but for some poor finishing in front off goal.
The second half started and things got worse as we were 3-0 behind after 50 minutes. However this is we are different from most clubs. Some clubs might have lost their discipline and focus and crumbled . Our lads didnt as with 5 minutes we were 3-1 behind that’s to Mark O Sullivan , Mike Conway then made it 3-2 after 63 Minutes . It was all square in the 66th Minute thanks to David Clifford, and then we went ahead 4-3 on the 72nd minute mark thanks to Fergal Maunsell . 4 goals in 16 amazing minutes off football . However it just wasnt to be and in the 93rd minute Celtic equalized after a goal mouth scramble.
Extra time saw both sides try to get a winner but neither could and to penalties it went . It’s always a lottery when this happens and unfortunately we missed one while celtic scored all five to see them advance to the next round .
A great reaction from the players though who showed great heart and pride in themselves and the jersey to come back from 3 down with 35 minutes remaining . No doubt if this attitude continues we will have another succesful year .
