Denny Premier A

The opening game off the new league season saw us start with a share of the points against Killarney Celtic. In a fantastic game of soccer both teams must be given credit for how they played this match.

The first half saw Celtic start the better but with our back four rock solid nothing was getting past to trouble Tommy Moriarty in goals. We slowly got into the game with some great possession work and in the 25th minute we took the lead. A superb ball from Paudie Bailey sent Pa Mac away and when he squared it, Antony Murphy was on hand to finish to the roof of the net. Pa Mac could have made it 2-0 just before the break only to be denied by the Celtic keeper from close range.

Celtic came out in the second half throwing everything forward but our defence again was great with David Magee and Adrian Quirke solid in the center and Paudie Bailey and Ryan Downey  giving great support. Killarney did however get the equaliser with 20 minutes remaining. Both teams in the last quarter of the game had chances to win it but a draw was a fair result.

Well done to Ryan Downey and Aaron Eager Moriarty who made their senior A debut today. Training continues tuesday night at 8.30pm on the all-weather pitch at Christy Leahy Park.
