Premier A, Park 3-1 Killorglin FC
In a game that we started very slow in we managed to take all 3 points.
We fell behind in the 22nd minute after a poorly played pass by keeper Tommy Moriarty was intercepted by a Killorglin stricker on the edge of the box. His goal bound shot was stopped by a sliding tackle by John Dineen, but unfortunately it struck his arm and a penalty was awarded and John received a red card.
The resulting penalty was finished to the bottom corner with Tommy getting a hand to it.
We then had to make a change and brought Con Barrett off the bench for Paudie Bailey who needed to be sacrificed to get a shape back into the team. Within 6 min’s we were level when Martin Bowlers long ball missed everyone and found its way to the back off the net.
10 min’s later we were 2-1 up when a well struck free kick by David Conway was too hot to handle for the keeper with Stephen o Sullivan following up to score.
We got our 3rd on the 40 minute mark when a free kick was curled into the top corner by Fergal Maunsell.
The second half saw the introduction of Wayne Conway for David Conway, and even though there wasn’t any more goals, it wasn’t for the want off trying.
Fergal Maunsell, David Courtney and Wayne Conway all missed glorious chances to kill the game off. While at the other end the defence was in complete control.
This wasn’t a great performance but was a fantastic battling performance, when you consider we played with 10 men for over an hour. Great credit goes to the players for the non stop effort they put in.
