After Killarney Athletic losing last night to Spa Road tonight it was our chance to take advantage away to Castleisland on a very wet and cold night .
We got off to the worse start going a goal down after just two minutes but credit to all the players as they dug deep and tried to get back into the game . For the rest of the half we dominated possession without creating much , so 1-0 down at half time .
The response in the second half was all that the management could have asked for . From the kick off we went in search of the equalizer and it only took ten minutes to get it when Mark o Sullivan headed home from a Ryan Downey cross . We weren’t content with just a draw a straight away went in search of a lead goal , However we were hit with a sucker punch when we conceded on the hour mark . Then things seemed to get worse when Adrian Quirke was shown a second yellow and down to ten men for the remainder of the game . Yet again the courage and heart this team has, came through when Mark o Sullivan was taken down for a penalty with 30 minutes remaining . David Rogers took the spot kick which was saved but Mike Conway reacted quickest to blast the ball to the back of the net . The remaining twenty minutes saw Castleisland throw everything at us to get the win they had to have to have any chance of reaching the league final . But some outstanding defending , work rate and discipline saw us hang on for a well deserved draw . Four games remaining now and its in our own hands . Win four and we will be in the league final .
