A disappointing result today but a great team performance . We will feel very unlucky not to have got at least a point from the game and on another day we might have even won it . Played in awful weather conditions both teams played some great football on the deck .
The first half saw us have the wind to our backs but we failed to make the most of it . Con Barrett came closest when he saw his header come back off the cross-bar . Adrian Quirke and Mark o Sullivan brough good saves from the Celtic keeper with two long-range efforts . Jamie Kelly then make two great one on one saves to keep the game scoreless . We were nearly gifted the lead when Brain Spillane sliced a clearance and it hit the crossbar before going out for a corner .
Early in the second half Killarney took the lead from Peter McCarthy , but it seemed to everyone he was in an off side position . From here on it was all Park, even though we were up against a wind that was nearing gale force . Fergal Maunsell, Mike Conway and Con Barrett all came close to getting the equalizer but it never came. Then just in the final minute a Mike Conway shot was blocked by a hand of a celtic player as it headed goal wards . This was not deemed to be enough to get a penalty from the ref who said it was ball to hand and not hand to ball as the player hadn’t moved his hand in the referees opinion . The Full time Whistle went moments after . Six games to go now and still a lot to play for .
