A valuable 3 points as we play catch up on trying to get to second place in the league title race . With the chances we created we could have easily won this game but we seem to make things hard for ourselves with some bad finishing and decision-making in front of goal .
The opening twenty minutes saw Listowel start the better as we found it hard to settle into our passing game . However our keeper still didn’t have a save to make in the opening half . Our first real chance came midway through the hand when Fiachra Dunne ran onto a ball over the top but the keeper got a foot to it as he tried to touch it around him . Next was David Rogers who saw his free kick well saved at the far post . Mike Conway was then played in one on one with the keeper but he rolled his shot wide . Con Barrett then saw his header cleared of the line. The last chance of the half saw David Rogers round the Listowel Keeper only to see a last-ditch tackle deny him of a certain goal.
The second half saw us start where we finished the first and it only took five minutes for Fergal Maunsell to score after a fantastic run . Fergal nearly made it two only to see his shot beat the keeper and come back off the post . Fiachra Dunne then saw his shot cleared off the line Then with twenty minutes left Listowel scored against the run off play . A few changes were made with the introduction off Aaron Eager Moriarty, David Doyle and David Courtney . Mike Conway then found himself at a tight angle with only the keeper to beat but he hit the side netting, but moments later he found himself in the same position and made no mistake to give us a 2-1 lead with twelve minutes remaining . David Doyle finished the scoring in injury time when he tapped home a cross from Aaron Eager Moriarty . Five games left now in the league season with five wins needed .
