On Saturday last our u11 team played K/BOYS in a friendly game as part of the
referees “make a wish fun day”. This was the first time we played k/boys since
they beat us in the cup earlier in the season so it was a chance for our lads to try
and outscore the opposition this time. The game was 11 v 11 on the full size
pitch with big goals and this seemed to suite our team more. For the first ten
minutes we played all the soccer and did it in k/boys half of the pitch, but a few
breaks by them saw them really put our defence under real pressure and only
for Conor H in goals we would have being a few goals down. With ten minutes
left in the half we put on Ali and hes super pace seemed to put a stop to their
fast players that were creating so much trouble to us.
The second half saw us up our game and the pressure we put on them saw us
create 3 goals, Brian with a nice finish in the box, James R netting from outside
the box, and Padraig hitting a free kick from 30 yards. K/boys did score but
only because of an error in our box.
After the game all players received medals and there was plenty of pictures
taken with Nathen receiving the man of the match award.
Our team would like to thank the Kerry refs association for inviting us to their
day as we were well looked after with refreshments and plenty of fun activities
after the game, and we hope they raised plenty of funds for their chosen charity
which was the make a wish foundation.
The team has asked for the management to have a day to train each week so we
will train this Wednesday at 6:15 until 7:30 remember the two euro for the all
weather.
