Park A 2-3 Killarney Celtic A
The first game of the of the new season is always exciting but today was extra special for our under 11 teams as it was their first game in the schoolboy league. We didn’t manage to get the win but all the boys thoroughly enjoyed the outing.
We started brightly playing into a strong breeze and we took the lead with some excellent one touch passing when Jamie fitzgearld played a quick one-two with John O Connor down the right and Jamie’s first time cross was met by Gavin Slattery’s superb low right foot volley from outside the area. Two keepers wouldn’t have saved it. Celtic came back strong and Sean Brodrick produced some great saves to keep our lead. Man of the match Jack Twamley was coming into his own at this stage breaking down countless Celtic attacks but there was little he could do when Celtic equalized. 1-1 at half time.
We began the 2nd half at top speed and could have taken the lead sooner then we did but the break through came when Martin Laucher robbed possession and squared a lovely ball into the path of Greame Sheehy who applied a cool left foot finish to give us a deserved lead. A lapse in concentration let Celtic equalize for a second time . Then in the dying minutes Celtic forced a corner and scored a bullet header to take the win. A draw would have fair on the boys but it wasn’t to be. The main thing was everyone involved enjoyed a scintillating game. Best on the day for us were Alan Brosnan , Gavin Slattery, Jamie Fitzgearld , Sean Brodrick. Man of the match was Jack Twamley.
Park B 6-3 Killarney Celtic B
Best on the day were for the B team were Ryan Gurien, Sam mcCarthy and Matt Healy was man of the match .
Park C 0-1 Killarney Celtic C
Best on the day for the C team were Dan Fisher and Jordan Kissane .
