The game kicked off at hundred miles an hour with Celtic dominating the opening exchanges with their high pressure and explosive pace going forward. They were creating the better scoring opportunities and would have took the lead on more than one occasion if not for 2 perfectly timed sliding tackles inside our penalty area from the excellent Sean Brosnan and a couple of great saves from Sean Broderick.
But Celtic made there pressure count when they deservingly took the lead after 13 mins. We looked a bit shell shocked but we started to claw our way back into the game with Armin Heinrich and Jamie Fitzgearld beginning to start dominating the midfield with Jack Twamley and Sean Brosnan shutting the back door the chances began to come and we nearly equalised first through Cian Brosnan who narrowly shot wide and then through jamie Fitzgearld’s shot had the same outcome. As the half time whistle approached with were playing some lovely football and it produced some one touch play between Leon Gallagher who knocked it in to jamie his pass found Armin who was in the inside right position he spotted Cian deep run from the left wing and picked him out with a pass that some would say was way beyond his years Cian’s 1st touch was perfect to play the ball ahead of him he then held off the defender to slot the ball past the on rushing keeper towards the goal the Celtic defender slid in an effort to stop the goal at first we thought he had cleared off the line but the referee was in no doubt it was a goal. 1 all on the stroke of half time the boys were delighted leaving the field at half time.
The second half saw a couple of subs coming in at the start of the half with a real statement we were going the attack with John o Connor coming in for David Fiado and Josh Connolly in for adam walker. With In 3 mins of the restart we took the lead with an unstoppable rocket of a shot from Armin 25 yards out beat the first man and hit the ball past the helpless keeper. The score line stayed the same for the rest of the game but could have been different if not for our superb keeper Sean who made a number of point blank saves late in the game. Who was the majority vote for man of the match.
A hard fought 3 points we rode our luck at times but ended on the right side of the result well done to all 16 players who played in the game.
