The weather was certainly not kind on Saturday morning when Park and Dynamo’s u12’s were down to play in Christy Leahy Park. The pitch at Park was deemed unplayable but we were anxious to have the game played and the new all-weather at the KDL was available so the game was able to go ahead.
It was a bit of a rush but we got our warm up done and it was off to the very impressive all-weather to play against Dynamos
The game started in really tough conditions with the wind howling and the Park were playing against the wind for the first half which meant that Liam in goal and the back four of Ben, Samuel, Sean and Josh were going to be busy. However, the Park got off to the best possible start when Ben played a ball from the right and Colin managed to nip in before the keeper and finish to the net. 1-0 to the Park and the start they wanted. Conor in front of the back four was working hard as usual as the wind kept the ball for long periods in the Park half. David and Cianan tried hard to keep possession and to create when the chance arose. Venice and Samuel almost benefited before the half time whistle but the Park would have to be happy with a 1-0 lead at the switch over.
H-T Park A 1 – 0 Tralee Dynamos
“The wind never scored a goal” and the early exchanges of the second half showed that the strong breeze wasn’t as big an advantage as imagined. The Park needed a second goal just to settle things down and it came when David made a good run to the end line and made a good decision to pull the ball back to Cillian who finished well. 2-0 to the Park. Jack was helping to shore the back line at this point in the game. At this stage the lads were well on top and created a few good chances but the final two goals of the game came from a combination between Cianan and Venice. The first goal came from a good low ball close to the goal that Venice finished well and the second was an excellent cross which Venice finished well with his head. Unfortunately the last score of the game went to Tralee Dynamos when some last ditch tackling wasn’t enough to keep a clean sheet.
F-T Park A 4 – 1 Tralee Dynamos
Well done to the lads on a day that was difficult to play football. Training continues as usual this week.
