A lovely calm dry morning in Tralee was the setting for the quarter final of the shield between Park under 12 B and Killarney Celtic under 12 B.

The game kicked off just after 10.30 with Park attacking from the start. All the play in the first half was in the Killarney half of the field. After 15 minutes it was still 0-0 despite a constant bombardment of the Killarney goal, with shots hitting the post, the bar and some going just wide and one cleared off the line which everyone thought was in. At this stage it could easily have been 6-0 to park. However just after 15 minutes Robert Vasiu got the ball in the area and tapped it across to David (Tiny) Callaghan who broke the deadlock to make it 1-0. Shortly after, a beautiful move played from the back by Adam Sheehy to Robert who gave it to Leon Daly who passed it back to Robert now down the wing, Robert made a perfect cross to Matt Healy’s head and Matt made no mistake sticking it in the net. There were excellent performances from Earnan Ferris who narrowly missed scoring on a number of occasions and Ryan Guerin, who, although he started the game as centre back was playing in a mid-field role and winning everything in the middle of the field. The score at half time 2-0.

The second half took up where the first left off and when Matt passed the ball to Robert he sent a smashing shot into the back of the net making it 3-0. Mid way through the half a kick out by the goal keeper Liam Carmody found Danny Graney who passed a lovely ball to Tiny who was waiting just inside his own half staying on side, he let the ball pass him a chased it all the way to the area and dummied the keeper with a left shimmy and played the ball into the right corner. 5 minutes later Earnan received the ball from Tiny just outside the area and got his just reward scoring a lovely goal having just missed so many in the first half. The game ended 5-0.

There were outstanding performances from everyone on the team and it was a pleasure to watch. James Charles was the sole defender and made no errors leaving little or nothing for the keeper Liam to do. TJ Heaphy on the left was excellent as was Connor Brick in mid field. Conal Clifford and Mark Brick also played their part.
