Played away to killorglin on their all weather pitch yesterday. Despite the scoreline the Park boys played very well, and although Killorglin are in the premier division there were times in the match where we outplayed them. We had to bring in Padraig and Alfie from the U12’s as some of our players were cup tied and absent, and we also gave a goalkeeping debut to new Park player Diarmuid Murphy.

The first half started well for us where we kept possession of the ball with lovely passing and 3 touch football. We were unlucky to be 2-1 down after the first half. We really benefited from the presence of midfielder Robin McCarthy who scored a lovely goal and managed to create opportunities from his neat passing and giving us his skill in attack.

The second half saw Killorglin get 3 easy goals which on another day our keeper would have saved. We brought in Andrew Breen, James Friel, Alfie Christy and Dylan OSullivan from the bench at half time and got another goal from James. The last 10 minutes saw the Park denied a goal that bounced off the cross bar and looked well over the line from a fine strike 20 yards out by the goal scoring machine Robin McCarthy.

It was a thriller of a match and credit to all the Park boys who gave it their all. Park man of match: Robin McCarthy. Moment of match: when Shane McCarthy was told to go in goal to give Diarmuid a breather and put his team mates first by doing so and by playing so well….what a class player!

Well done boys, dont worry about the score, a much improved performance Jason Conway is very pleased with you all and so am I. Another big match on Saturday, see you all at training Monday 5.30pm.
