Played at home on the estate pitch at noon today. Despite having a squad of 18 under 13 players at 9.00am this morning it was doubtful that we could field a full team of players due to illness or just not turning up!
We managed to field 10 regular 13B s who always show up for training and always do their bit for the Park team. We were also joined by the Park u12B player Sean O’ Driscoll who played in midfield for us.
We started off playing a 3-5-2 formation, with Rual in goals who had a fantastic time in between the posts. He normally plays in a center back position for us, but with all usual goal keepers crocked, He was outstanding.
The first half saw some lovely passing and movement from the team, with Osazade, Arran and Jake in defence fully in control of their lines and controlling the offside trap really well. We played with two sweepers Mark and Edward who took the pressure off the defenders with their neat clearences and with David and Dean out on the wings, we could get the ball up to Andrew and Eoin up front. That just left young Sean to stay in behind the forwards passing some smashing balls with some lovely one and two touch football. At the end of the first half it was 2-1 to us with a fine strike By Eoin, his first for the park and won’t be the last!!
The second half saw us pin Killarney in there own half for most of the game, with driving runs from down the wing from Jake and Dean and Lovely clearences from Arran and Osazade. A final goal 10 minutes from time, saw David get a spectacular goal with a half volley from 25 yards out, hit with such force it bounced underneath the crossbar and and clipped the inside of the post before going in. The final score 3-1 to us and the first victory in a run of five games.
Well done lads this result will give us loads of confidence and hopefully see us elevate back up the league table. Big thanks to the Parents who cheered the team on and to the eleven players who put The Park shirt on and did the team proud. Training on Monday 5.30-6.30 with Matthew. 5-6 Thursday with Dave.
The team: Raul, Osazade, Arran, Jake, Mark, Edward, Dean, David, Sean, Andrew, Eoin. Man of the match: Arran Dewey.
