It was a wet and mucky setting for the league game between Park under 13 B and Ballyhar. The game got under way at 1pm. There was an equal amount of possession for the first 10 minutes or so until the Ballyhar left back went to make a clearance from a wide position which David (Tiny) Callaghan blocked not once but twice and then rounded the full back and sent a lovely cross into the area where Matt Healy was waiting, as Matt went for the ball he was taken down resulting in a penalty which Tiny took and put away to open the scoring.
The game continued with both sides pushing forward but excellent defending by full backs Adam Sheehy and Ryan Guerin kept things safe for Park. In the twentieth minute nice link up movement down the wings between Evan Foley and Adan Walker saw Matt get the ball and lay it on nicely for Tiny who scored his second. Shortly before half time good play through midfield saw Connor Brick play Tiny through, Tiny lobbed the keeper to score his third goal which so far has to be the goal of the season. Half time score 3-0.
Park continued on the attack after a short break, however good play by Ballyhar saw them find the Park net, 3-1. Within two minutes a lovely pass from Matt to Tiny saw Tiny score his fourth. Just after that Danny Fisher playing on the left wing made a perfect cross to Tiny in the box who just missed his fifth by inches. With 10 minutes to go Matt moved to left wing and Leonard Salihaj replaced him as striker. On the pitch for 5 minutes the ball broke to Leonard and he made no mistake sticking the ball in the net. With the score at 5-1 a lack of concentration allowed Ballyhar to score a second making the final result 5-2.
Man of the match Tiny was outstanding throughout the entire game.
Well done to all park players who remain in top position.
