On a windy and blustery morning the Park Lads had another frustating League result going down 0 – 3 to Mastergeeha.
In the first half the Park played into a strong wind and defended superbly with Sean C, Alan Mc, Gary C and Eoin L rock solid in defence. Despite the wind the Park created three point blank chances in front of goal from Owen “Minors” and John H and were unlucky not to go at least 2 up before half time.
Unfortunately football can be cruel and with a minute to go to the half time break, the first lapse in concentration from the Park defence and Mastergeeha struck the net from a corner to go 1 up.
In the 2nd half the Park lads with the wind at their backs dominated the play and had several chances from Ciaran”Kiwi”, James L and Gearoid D but failed to capitalise. As the Park pushed forward for the equaliser they were caught on the counter attack and Mastergeeha went 2 up on the 20 min mark.
The Park lads battled hard to salvage something from the game but again they were caught on the counter attack to go 3 nil down with a minute to go to the final whistle.
A frustrating result in a game where we played the best football but there is truth in the saying “Goals win matches” and fair play to Mastergeeha they took their chances on the day.
