Park U13 A’s drew 2-2 with Listowel in Christy Leahy Park. Before kick off the Park showed great sportsmanship by applauding the league champions onto the pitch; a nice gesture which was really appreciated by the away side. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half, Park had the upper hand throughout and should have been ahead.We had two clear chances but couldn’t convert-cre…dit the Listowel keeper for one outstanding save from Mike Slatts. 0-0 at HT!
Early in the second half the Park took advantage of the strong wind and after a good break Thomas Burke was fouled in the box and a penalty awarded. Adam Ward slotted the pen and the Park took the lead. Ten mins later Listowel drew level with a goal Aaron Ward could do nothing about. Listowel grew in confidence and with about 5 mins to go took the lead- A well struck free kick was saved by Aaron but the rebound was scored by a Listowel player. However in the dying minutes of the game Park drew level from a sublime outside of the boot chip by Mike Slatts- a well deserved equalizer for the lads who performed so well throughout the game. MOTM was Conor Higgins! A big thank you to every player involved with the U13 A’s this year-we were unlucky this season not to win some silverware. We played some great football, showed great spirit and sportsmanship throughout! Thanks lads from Derek, Kieran and Paudie. We will be in touch with regards any trainings or challenge matches in the coming weeks.
