Park under 13As beat Kingdom Boys this evening by 3 goals to 2. Playing against a very strong wind in the first half Park were one nil down after a mix up in defense in the 10th min. However we settled again and shortly after going behind Mike Slatts scored undoubtedly the goal of the season to equalise. A great cross ball from Josh Wadding found Mike 25yards from goal, he took it on the chest and… volleyed the ball over the keepers head-outstanding finish! Then at the end of the half Park took the lead after a neat finish by Conor Higgins. Really great performance against the strong wind to go in at half time leading 2-1!
Now in the second half we were playing with the wind and dominated from the start. We had a number of chances to increase our lead but couldn’t find a way past the KB goal keeper. Eventually we got the all important third goal from the left boot of Adam Ward. Adam scored directly from a corner!! An absolute superb connection of the ball which was impossible for the KB’s goalie and back line to defend. With 5 mins to go KB’s were awarded a penalty which they cooly converted. Some brave defending and excellent goalkeeping insured that the Park saw out the game to take the three points. Great team display by all the lads and Eddie Galvin who came on in the second half. Few contenders for MOTM but it has to go to Sean Carmody for his warrior like performance in center half-Sean played the entire second half with an injury he picked up towards the end of the first half-well done Sean! Thanks to Kingdom Boys for a great game and also the referee Derek O’Shea who was excellent throughout!
