St Brendans Park FC were delighted to host College Corinthians a prominent
Cork City team for pre-season friendlies at both U12 and U14 age group in
Christy Leahy Park.
First up was the U14’s, this being their first match of a series of up and coming
pre-season challenges for the U14 lads they were sure to be a bit rusty after the
Summer break and you couldnt ask for a tougher test against this Corinthians
team who were runners up in last year’s National Cup Final.
True to form the match was dominated by the Corinthians who proved to be
stronger in all departments but credit to the park lads spirit they battled hard
and created a couple of chances themselves.
It was a great lesson for our lads on how the great game canbe played in it’s
purest and simplest form, but there were positives to be taken away, as the
Park lads did try to play a pass and move style of football out of defence and
their 100% effort to the end.
All the players on both sides were a credit to the game in the sporting and fair
manner in which the match was played.
Players of Note: Evan Lyons, Sean Collins, Ciaran “Kiwi” Killeen, Alan McElligot,
