Division 2
A great start to the league campaign for the Park B team, they were denied the full 3 points by a long range shot deep in injury time.

The U14 season kicked off with the Park B’s first to open their campaign in
Division 2 at home to to a strong Killorlin B side. The two teams had met in a
preseason friendly a couple of weeks ago with the Killorlin side getting the
better of the Park lads on that occasion, so the Park were fired up and looking
for vengeance.
The 1st Half saw the home team slow to get out of the blocks with the Killorglin
lads settling quicker and putting the park defence under severe pressure
but credit to the lads they held firm and cleared their lines admirably with
Maciek superb in goal.
Dylan and Evan in the centre started to dominate the middle of the pitch and the
Park lads started to create a few shooting opportunities and on the 20min mark
Dylan hit the ball with authority to riffle home an unstoppable shot to the top
corner, 1 nil up and the Park had their tails up and created a few more chances
with Joseph unlucky not to get the second when he struck the post with the ball
rickashaying of the keeper and hitting the killorlin keeper for the second with
their defence clearing, it was by no means all park and from a defensive error
Kilorglin hit back to make it 1-1 just before half time. In truth the Park lads
could have been further behind but the fine defensive display and superb
handling by Maceik in goals.
The 2nd half and the lads continued as they did in the 1 st half and
they pressed forward to try and get the second and create some fine chances
with shots from Joseph, Evan and Dylan. In spells the Park showed they could
pass and move the ball out of defence with the best of them and on the
15 min mark the passing movement of the match created Park’s second goal,
which started from a free kick deep in their defence taken by Owen “Minors”
into the centre to Evan who laid off a first time pass to Jack on the left wing who
took it under control and picked out Gearoid coming in from the right who duly
obliged by stroking the ball past the Killorglin keeper.
Killorglin made a few changes to try and get something from the game and the
Park were under severe pressure for the last 10mins. Unfortunately they were
unlucky not to take all 3 points as the Killorglin centre midfielder returned the
kick out with a long last gasp ball deep into injury time catching the Park keeper
by surprise and striking the top corner of the net to finish 2-2.
Still despite the result it was a great confidence booster for the Park lads for the
rest of the season ahead.
