It was a very good start of the league campaign for the lads who took the lead when Gearoid Fitzgearld classy through ball was well finished by Robin Mc Carthy who drilled home from just inside the 18 yard box mid way into the first half.
Castleisland drew level from a corner early into the second half before Robin broke through their defence again to clip one into the top corner and restore the lead. With ten mins remaining the home side scored a second when another corner wasn’t dealt with.
Micheal Slattery who came into the game at half time, won the tie with a special strike from outside the box that rippled the net. It was a good test and we had it put to us but today we were good enough.
Plenty of good performance like Tomas Burke and Micheal o Gara in the middle of the field and the back four in both halves were solid.
