Our Under 14A side continued their impressive early season form with a comprehensive away win in Listowel on Saturday afternoon. Perfect weather conditions allowed for some excellent football on the day.
Park started the match in positive fashion with our wide men Earnan Ferris and Robert Vasiu threatening early on and getting some good ball into Tomas O’Sullivan, who was debuting in a centre forward role. John O’Connor and Cian Brosnan were getting forward also with Jack Twamley playing an effective holding role in front of the back four. Despite large amounts of possession, Park were finding the Listowel central defence in stubborn mood. Celtic also threatened at times but the back four of Adam Sheehy, Ryan Guerin, Alan Brosnan and Sean McGrath in front of the ever improving Sean Broderick were proving sturdy in defence. However, 10 minutes before the break, Celtic opened the scoring when Park failed to clear a corner and a finish from 6 yards out found the net.
Park responded well and equalised before the break when Cian Brosnan’s left foot finish found the bottom right corner of the goals.
Half Time Listowel Celtic A 1, Park A 1.
The second half belonged the Park lads. From the off, waves of attacks ensued and were rewarded when Tomas O’Sullivan beat several defenders down the right hand side before a superb finish high to the left hand corner of the goals.
A third quickly followed when a high ball wasn’t dealt with leaving the ever alert John O’Connor to tap in a third from close range. The fourth goal was created by Earnan Ferris who found John O’Connor to score from close range. The strength in depth of this squad was shown when Leon Gallagher and Sean Kedzierski were introduced along with Tiny O’Callaghan, Darragh Caplis, Darragh Walsh and Graham Sheehy. Sean Kedzierski notched the fifth, beating the keeper from long range while Darragh Caplis rounded off the scoring coolly finishing from the edge of the box. All in all an excellent performance from the boys who have got their league campaign off to a flying start.
