This was a brilliant win for this squad who now go into the last 32 of this competition and with some luck can go a lot further.
Overall this was a great team performance with an honesty of effort second to none. We started brightly with our midfield on top and got the breakthrough after 20 minutes when James Duggan converted from the spot.
Athletic were always dangerous from set pieces and scored on either side of the half from set plays. With time running out up stepped Jessie to equalise with a well taken goal bring the tie into extra time.
Our fitness began to tell with Chris and sub Shane creating good chances and it was our super striker “Duggie” who sealed the deal with a winner out of nothing.
On the day this was a well deserved victory over a team that would be more than a match for anyone and here’s hoping that we can progress further and do the club proud.
