The score line on the day was 4-0 but it could have been so much more.
In a game we controlled we got off to a great start when a somewhat harmless effort from Kieran Carmody was fumbled by the keeper and found its way to the net. After such a good start almost immediately we had a let off after a lapse in concentration at the back allowed the Birdhill striker in but he fired wide.
From the resulting goal kick Jesse flicked the ball on to Dylan who beat the offside trap and slotted the ball home from just inside the box. We were 2 up and cruising or so we thought but we had goalkeeper Conor Hurley to thank for our 2-0 half time lead as he brilliantly denied the opposition striker from 10 yards with a great save which he tipped on to the post.
2-0 is a tricky score line so in the 2nd half we pushed for the killer goal which we found 15 minutes in to the 2nd half with a goal from Ferdia OBrien. Karl Mullins with a great delivery from a corner which Ferdia met on the volley and guided in to the roof of the net. We started to really impose out football on the game and kept very good possession with Ferdia and Jesse pulling the strings in midfield.
After a period of good play Fergal Ryan got free down the right and was taken down inside the box but from the resulting penalty Jesse put it wide. Shortly after Jesse redeemed himself after winning the ball in midfield he beat 4 players but rifling his shot in to the left hand corner from 20 yards a great goal.
It finished 4-0 all in all a great performance that see’s us through to play last years beaten finalists Herbertstown in the next round.
