On a lovely Saturday afternoon the game of the season got underway with the Park attacking from the off forcing the home tea concede a corner which seen the shot go wide for a goal kick . Mastergeeha were a strong physical team who came back and a scramble in the goalmouth saw the shot go into the back off the net 1-0 Mastergeeha. Park had several chances with shots from Aaron and Shane going wide. Conor H puts the ball through to John and plays a one two to Conor who slots the ball through to Jamel but his shot hits the side net . Jake runs down the pitch puts a through ball to John to Aaron back to Jake who passes to Conor H who puts the ball high into the top of the net 1-1 game on.
Jake passes to Aaron but the keeper saves his shot , the ball goes out for a throw and James puts it down the field, it’s crossed into the 18 yard box and sub Jack Rogers who had only been on the pitch 30 seconds in his first ever schoolboys game and his first touch of the ball blasted the ball into the back of the net 1-2 . Park David Oba in great form in goal for the Park makes another fantastic save.
Second half James takes a free kick but Jack heads wide . Mastergeeha come back but David makes a great save to put the ball out for a corner. David saves again and is put out for another corner and as happened to us several times last season the ball was not cleared and Mastergeeha punished us 2-2. The game flowed from end to end and Mastergeeha ran through with their striker dancing through our players without being tackled 3-2 Mastergeeha . Another attack sees the ball passed around the midfield before being passed out on the wing to see the forward run in slot the ball past the keeper 4-2 .
Just when we thought the game had gone beyond us the ball is passed through to Edward who is brought down in the box penalty, Conor O’Brien steps up to take it but his shot goes straight at the keeper and he saves it. Missed opportunity but Park come back and the ball is sent up the field to John who weaves and dances his way round the backs to put the ball in the net 4-3 .With their heads up get the ball again and it is passed through to Aaron who takes it out on the wing and the cuts back in towards the goal and blasts the ball into the back of the net 4-4 .
Just when it looked like a draw was on the cards a much bigger stronger Mastergeeha side forced a corner and once again it was not contested and the ball ended up in the net 5-4 .Then almost straight from kick off they came forward and the player dodged passed three players without a tackle being put in and again we were punished to end the game 6-4 to Mastergeeha. Despite being a stronger A team Park matched and sometimes bettered them but for basic mistakes that keep repeating themselves are our downfall but well done to all who played.
