581031_379068995492142_775721734_nTomorrow Sunday May 18th will see St Brendans Park U16 team look to create even more history and take a SFAI National Cup back to the kingdom for the very first time . The game takes place at Wayside Celtics Grounds in Kilternan Dublin with a 4.00pm kick off .

The boys have beaten Mastergeeha , Corbally and Charleville in the early rounds to see them into the open draw . Being 4-1 down away in Bray with ten minutes remaining they showed great courage to come away with a 5-4 win . This was a huge win under the circumstances and would mean it would be all home games up to the final if the boys could keep their cup run going .

Next up was the visit of Home Farm from Dublin in the last 16 and after a very tight match Park Fc moved onto the 1/4 final after a 1-0 score line . Salthill Devon were next to come to Christy Leahy Park and just like others they realised how good this Park Side really are and after extra time was needed the club had found itself in a National Cup semi final on a 3-1 score line .

The semi final played in front of a huge crowd saw a titanic battle against Mungret Regional from Limerick . Regional took an early lead with was cancelled out before half time but it would take a penalty shoot out to separate these two sides . The Park secured their place on a 5-4 score line in the shoot out after 14 penalties .

Our opponents on Sunday are St Kevin’s Boys from the DDSL . The DDSL is a region on their own and with their refusal to accept the original draw it is hard to find out what happened in their area of the cup in the early rounds . When St Kevin’s reached the last 32 they received a walk over from Cork side Springfield as Cork withdrew all teams from the completion after the fall out of the DDSL sides being let back into the competition at the last 32 stage . St Kevin’s since then have been impressive and with wins against Ardee 6-1, Herbertstown 3-1 and Nenagh 3-1 they have reach the Cup final which they also have teams in the U13 and U15 finals also this weekend .

The Park lads have proven they are a match for any side this season and will go into the game full of confidence and with Managers Graeme o Sullivan and David Magee at the helm it is no wonder the team have seemed very relaxed in the build up to the game  . A huge crowd is expected to travel with two large buses sold out and many other travelling by cars to the Wayside Celtic venue .

All the members of St Brendans Park Fc , both past and present would like to congratulate Graeme, David and the entire squad on their fantastic achievement in becoming the first schoolboys team to reach a National Cup Final and wish them the very best of luck on Sunday .
