Park A collected the Tucker Kelly cup after a fortuitous 1-0 victory over a gallant Park B side on a memorable day for St Brendans Park as a club . Most of the credit today must go to the B team players and management who gave the A team as stern a test as they faced all season long .The B team stopped the A lads from playing their usual passing style of play and created several worthwhile chances themselves .
The only goal of the game came when Colin Griffin put through Ryan Dolan who finished with an exquisite chip over Conor Hurley . Just before half time Hurley pulled off a spectacular save from a Jesse Stafford Lacey effort which would have put the A team undeservedly two ahead .
Up front for the B team Fergal Ryan was proving to be a constant threat and early in the second half the B team had the ball in the net , but the goal was harshly ruled out for an offence on the A team keeper, Jack Carmody . Both teams had chances to score in the second half but eventually the game finished with the A team capping off a great season to win both the cup and the league . Although disappointing today, great credit must go to all the lads for their play throughout the entire season .
Fergal Ryan was a fully deserving choice as man of the match and Sully and all his team must feel very proud of this performance .
A special mention to Shane McLoughlin who joins Ipswich Town on a two year scholarship in july. All involved with the 16’s wish him well and hope that he enjoys his time in England .
