We had a great turnout with over 20 girls showing up for the match, still getting to know each other and it showed with the goals we conceded, even though centre backs Kate O’Sullivan and Siobhan Goodwin were excellent on the day.

We can take a lot of positives from the game, as every time we went forward we looked dangerous and Caroline Maunsell grabbed another 2 fine goals for herself. But Listowel showed just why they were one of the best in Ireland last year and outclassed us in the end. The heat played its part on a fine day up in the Park and all girls worked throughout and enjoyed themselves.

A few of our players will be training with the county team next week which is a great achievement for the club and we wish them all the best. Performances by Alison O’Sullivan and Megan Hill stood out, but Kate O’Sullivan should be proud of herself as she put in a outstanding display all game and worked unbelievably hard for the team. With such a big turnout we are hoping to have a friendly between ourselves next week to try and develop our game to what we are capable of.
