Park moved into the last 16 of the FAI Youth Cup with a very good performance against a fairly physical Killeaney side today . From the first whistle Park controlled the game and played the more fluent football throughout .Ryan O’Carroll opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a terrific curling free kick from 30 yards . Jack Carmody in goal pulled off a great save when one on one with the Killeaney striker to keep the score in Parks favour .
Shortly after this the impressive Adam O’Rourke put in a great cross that was turned into the net by a Killeaney defender under pressure from Jesse O’Sullivan to give Park a 2 goal advantage .Shortly before half-time the lead was halved when a free-kick was deflected into the goal off a Park defender .
One or two poor Killeaney challenges went relatively un- punished and they had a good shout for a penalty just before the half-time whistle ,but the 2-1 score line seemed scant reward for a good 45 minute performance from the Park team.
The second half went much the same way with Adam Barrett and Ryan Dolan creating havoc out wide making several chances that on another day would have been taken . The third came following a good exchange of passes between Sean Dukes and Paddy Collins which freed Ryan Dolan to produce a tremendous cross on the right hand side of the pitch and James Duggan was on hand to crash a perfect header into the corner of the Killeaney net .
With Fionn Coakley and Sean Kelliher in commanding form at the heart of the defence Park were able to dominate much of the play .Sean put in a claim for challenge of the season with a tackle late on in the game which was felt all round the ground .Dwyer Tobin,Shane Flaherty and Ferdia O’Brien all saw action late on in the game .
Overall a very good team performance with several players having their best game of the season so far and nobody playing poorly . Good to see Colin Griffin at the game and well on the road to recovery following a knee operation .Also a special mention to the people involved with preparing the pitch which was in remarkable condition considering the recent amount of rain .
