Away to Fenit was never going to be easy for the Park Lads, the pitch was heavy but it was a fine winters day for football. Fenit were smarting from losing 3 points earlier in the season to the Park without kicking a ball, so a physical battle was on the cards and with the Park on fire from a tremendous performance against arch rivals Killarney Ath. this was going to be a fiercely contested game.

1st Half

The park lads continued on from their performance against Killarney Ath. and started to dominate the match from the kick off.The back four were solid and we were moving the ball with great pass and go movement through the midfield creating some great chances and on the 20 min mark a cross from the right Deano was converted from the head of Eoin L, 1-o up and the Park got into a confident stride, 5 mins later Conor made it 2 nil with a fine strike from outside the box. One lapse of concentration at the back nearly let Fenit in for a goal but Eoghan proved why he was Park’s No1 goalkeeper by saving from point-blank range to keep the scoreline 2-0 in favour of the Park. This spurred the lads on and on the stroke of half time a fine through ball from Cian to the feet of Conor and from outside the box he struck the roof of the net to make it 3-0.

2nd Half

The Park continued to pressure the Fenit goals and 7 mins in were rewarded with a fine passing move from Eoin L to Deano who stroked the ball home past the Fenit keeper to make it 4-0. The lads were in command and should have gone 5 nil up after being awarded a penalty from a great individual piece of genius from Dylan beating the centre back, rounding the keeper to be rugby tackled to the ground, a fine save by the fenit keeper kept the game at 4-0, 5 mins later the Park were awarded a further penalty for hand ball but failed to convert. Unfortunately the team started to get over-confident and lost shape with everyone looking for goals and were caught on the counter at the back with the Fenit strike force slotting the ball past Eoghan to make it 4-1.Fenit converted a penalty in the dying minutes to make it 4-2 the final score.

A good steady performance by the lads in which our pass and move game was effective, could have capitalised more on a few good chances but that will come with a bit more shooting practice at training!!
